Jennifer Bosworth - Struck

Hey!

I decided to read Struck written by Jennifer Bosworth because so many people were saying it was pretty good and I wouldn't waste my time. And that is an expression I love to hear.

"Mia Price is a lightning addict. She's survived strikes, but her craving to connect to the energy in storms endangers her life and the lives of those around her.

Los Angeles, where lightning rarely strikes, is one of the few places Mia feels safe from her addiction. But when an earthwake devastes the city, her haven is transformed into a minefield of chaos and danger. The beaches become massive tent cities. Downtown is a crumbling wasteland, where a traveling party moves to a different empty building each night, the revelers drawn to the destruction by a force they cannot deny- Two warring cults rise to power, and both see Mia as the key to their opposing doomsday prophecies. They believe she has a connection to the freak electrical storm that caused the quake, and to the far devastating storm that is yet to come.

Mia wants to trust the enigmatic and aluring Jeremy when he promises to protect her, but she fears he isn't who he claims to be. In the end, the passion and power that brought them together could be their downfall. When the final disaster strikes, Mia must risk unleashing the full horror of her strenght to safe the people she loves or lose everything."

A girl who can sort of control lightnings? Hell yes I was going to read this book.
But it isn't exactly that way the book follows...

GoodReads

Hi!

I was thinking about how many post I have which are related to books. Such as such with book trailers or where I write my opinion about the last book I read at that moment.
They're quite a few. Probably more than what I think.
Thus I decided to create an account on Goodreads.

If you don't know what Goodreads is, I'll tell you. It's a website where you sign in freely with your name, email and password, after that you select which types of books you like to read and finally, check 19 books you already read or are planning to.
If I remember clearly these are the first 3 steps.
After all that you start reviewing and enter in groups which are more appeling to you.
Basically you share your opinion and receive others that can help you decide what book to read next.

And also, it's available an app that makes everything easier to access anytime anywhere.

So far I'm really happy about my inscrition.

Rachel Bilson - Funny Or Die

Hello!

It was late but I did have discover the video of Rachel Bilson for Funny Or Die. It's hilarious! And helps if you follow Hart Of Dixie and are aware of its buzz.

I laughed pretty hard.
Who knew she could rap?

My Voice

Within this restless, hurried, modern world
We took our hearts' full pleasure - You and I,
And now the white sails of our ship are furled,
And spent the lading of our argosy.

Wherefore my cheeks before their time are wan,
For very weeping is my gladness fled,
Sorrow hath paled my lip's vermilion,
And Ruin draws the curtains of my bed.

But all this crowded life has been to thee
No more than lyre, or lute, or subtle spell
Of viols, or the music of the sea
That sleeps, a mimic echo, in the shell.

Catherine Fisher - Incarceron

Heya!

I finished Incarceron written by Catherine Fisher.

"Imagine a living prison so vast that it contains corridors and forests, cities and seas.
Imagine a prisoner with no memory, who is sure he came from Outside, even though the prison has been sealed for centuries and only one man, half real, half legend, had ever escaped.
Imagine a girl in a manor house in a society where time has been forbidden, where everyone is held in a seventeenth century world run by computers, doomed to an arranged marriage that appals her, tangled in an assassination plot she both dreads and desires.
One inside, one outside.
But both imprisoned.
Imagine a war that has hollowed the moon, seven skullrings that contain souls, a flying ship and a wall at the world's end.
Imagine the unimaginable.
Imagine Incarceron."

How does that sound to you?
Promising, right?

Taken 2

Hey!

Did you love or love Taken with Liam Neeson?
Even though it reaches a dramatic and serious subject I did find myself each minute more captivated while watching. And it fights with you sense of justice which makes you end up just wanting all the bad guys dead as much as Liam's character.
Now they're doing the sequel.

I'm not going to miss this film for sure.

Leigh Bardugo - Shadow And Bone

Hello!

Even though I don't like it, today it's another book post. And I'm sorry in advance if it bothers you.

Thus, the book I've read this time is Shadow And Bone, the first book in the Grisha trilogy written by Leigh Bardugo.

"Surrounded by enemies, the once-great nation of Ravka has been torn in two by the Shadow Fold, a swath of near-impenetrable darkness crawling with monsters who feast on human flesh. Now its fate may rest on the shoulders of one unlikely refugee. Alina Starkov has never been good at anything. But when her regiment is attacked on the Fold and her best friend is brutally injured, Alina reveals a dormant power that saves his life - a power that could be the key to setting her war-ravaged country free. Wrenched from everything she knows, Alina is whisked away to the royal court to be trained as a member of the Grisha, the magical elite led by the mysterious Darkling. Yet nothing in this lavish world is what it seems. With darkness looming and an entire kingdom depending on her untamed power, Alina will have to confront the secrets of the Grisha... and the secrets of her heart."

That's a long summary, which explains basically everything. When I found this book this wasn't the one I read, I wish it had been.

Emmy Laybourne - Monument 14

Heya!

I finished reading Monument 14 written by Emmy Laybourne a few minutes ago.

"Your mother hollers that you're going to miss the bus. She can see it coming down the street. You don't stop and hug her and tell her you love her. You don't thank her for being a good, kind, patient mother. Of course not - you launch yourself down the stairs and make a run for the corner.

Only, if it's the last time you'll ever see your mother, you sort of start to wish you'd stopped and did those things. Maybe even missed the bus.

But the bus was barreling down the street, so I ran.

Fourteen kids. One superstore. A million things that go wrong."

Now tell me, if you read this summary for the first time what would you think the book was about?

Monsters University

Hey!

I was so, so, SO happy when I saw this trailer on my list of subscriptions on Youtube.

Do you believe it's been 12 years since the first film?
I feel old. Time really does fly.
I, as pretty much everybody who saw the film, loved it from the beginning until the end. I think it's one of the best Disney-Pixar films ever made.

I understand some people are concerned about this prequel because Cars 2 wasn't as good as the first in the series, I liked it, still prefer the first but I enjoy watching it. But I believe this will be amazing.

I read some comments saying they wanted them do The Incredibles 2. Well, I've been waiting for it since I watched the 1st.

TOMS Wrap-Boots

Hi!

I've been wanting to buy a pair of TOMS for a few months now. I like pretty much every patron but I think I always think I'll stay with the classic black. But since I can't decided with colour or patron to pick I added one more option to my dilemma. Yes, smart. The Wrap-Boots.

One of the coolest ideas ever invented. I want mine in red!

The O.C. Season 1

Hello!

I am a tv show junky.
I love watching series. I'm not much into medical themed but I see criminal, drama and comedy tv shows.
But shameful I have never seen all 4 season of The O.C. Yes, never.

And I know that if you're a girl it's shameful in a certain way.
But honestly, I have seen some episodes of each season but never with attention and never one after the other with the intention of made sense. Therefore, I decided to watch it from the first season. I started today and saw the first 3 episodes. If I watch 3 per day I think Summer will end and I will be over with it.
Let's see if I can pull it off.

Dearly, Departed - Lia Habel

Heya!

Lately this blog seems like a book-review kind of website. Books everywhere... I don't think it's a bad thing but can be boring.
But now that school's over and I have so much free time I can't stop reading.
This time I read Dearly, Departed by Lia Habel.

"A cyber-Victorian/steampunk romance - with zombies.

Almost two hundred years in the future, Nora Dearly lives in a world of bustled gowns, fake manner, watery tea, and uppity lords and ladies.

Thank God the zombies came to rescue her.

Drangges into the night by the living dead, Nora finds herself fighting for the father she thought long gone, the friend she was forced to leave behind - and the love of a handsome, noble young army captain.

Who just happens to be a walking corpse."

This is the second book I've read whereas zombies are the main theme (the first was Warm Bodies written by Issac Marion). That's one of the reasons why I decided to read this book, the other was because the summary says steampunk and being interested in the manner I thought "hell, yeah. you're going to read that book."
But or I don't have the minimal idea of what steampunk is or the book is lacking on it.

Neil Sedaka - Oh, Carol

Hey!

I think of myself as a rock listener.
Even though I love Frank Sinatra with all my heart.
I think that happens because he's a legend. He had an out-of-this-world type of voice. As I like to say "if you like music you have to love Frank."
But Sinatra isn't the only famous singer from the 60's that his songs remain intact nowadays.

Neil Sedaka - Oh, Carol

It's catchy as hell. I'm sure it will stay in your head the rest of the day. Or even week.

The Night Circus - Erin Morgenstern

Hi!

I started reading The Night Circus written by Erin Morgenstern a few days ago, but then Rapture was released and it stayed on hold.

"The circus arrives without warning.
No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not...

In 1886 a mysterious travelling circus becomes an international sensation. Open only at night, constructed entirely in black and white, the Circe des Rêves delights all who wander its circular paths and warm themselves at its bonfire. The circus seems to cast a spell over its aficionados, who call themselves the rêveurs - the dreamers. But who is the sinister man in the grey suit who watches over it all? Behind the scenes a dangerous game is being played out by two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who, at the behest of their masters are forces to test the limits of the imaginations - and of love."

The cover is beautiful. Simple and delicate.

When I read the summary I was so intrigued by the the circus theme that I had to put my hands on it as soon as I could and as it was released last year I thought it wouldn't be difficult to accomplished my wish. And it wasn't.

Teen Wolf - Season 2

Hello!

I had totally forgotten about Teen Wolf.

Last Summer when the first season started I wrote here that I was enjoying watching this even though I'm not such a big werewolf fan.
Yes, I agree Taylor Lautner gave a whole new sparkle to the creature but still my excitement ends on him.
Not even those on True Blood make me change my mind.

Moving on, as I said, I started watching this last Summer, because as you might know during the hot months the majority of the tv shows end or have breaks, thus I read good reviews on this and decided to give it a try.
I confess it isn't my favourite tv show on the planet. I can easily live without watching it but there's something there that makes me keep following. I believe it's Stiles. He's the funniest. I think he's so funny and natural because he looks like he's similar to his character in real life. I may be wrong but I think that.

This week was episode number 3, so you still have time to catch up, like I did.
Here's the trailer.

Rapture - Lauren Kate

Heya!

As I wrote on Tumblr, I finished Rapture written by Lauren Kate a few minutes ago.

I confess unashamed that I cried.
I think it happened because while I was waiting for the book, I created many stories in my head for what might happen and none of them actually was close to the real one, therefore I was surprised, and when towards the end you start to put the pieces together and realize how obvious and unbelievable it all is you're stunned.

Her Voice

The wild bee reels from bough to bough
With his furry coat and his gauzy wing.
Now in a lily-cup, and now
Setting a jacinth bell a-swing,
In his wandering;
Sit closer love: it was here I trow
I made that vow,

Swore that two lives should be like one
As long as the sea-gull loved the sea,
As long as the sunflower sought the sun -
It shall be, I said, for eternity
'Twixt you and me!
Dear friend, those times are over and done,
Love's web is spun.

Look upward where the poplar trees
Sway and sway in the summer air,
Here in the valley never a breeze
Scatters the thristledown, but there
Great winds blow fair
From the mighty murmuring mystical seas,
And the wave-lashed leas.

Look upward where the white gull screams,
What does it see that we do not see?
Is that a star? or the lamp that gleams
On some outward voyaging argosy -
Ah! can it be
We have lived our lives in a land of dreams!
How sad it seems.

Sweet, there is nothing left to say
But this, that love is never lost,
Keen winter stabs the breasts of May
Whose crimson roses burst his frost,
Ships tempest-tossed
Will find a harbour in some bay,
And so we may.

And there is nothing left to do
But to kiss once again, and part,
Nay, there is nothing we should rue,
I have my beauty - you your Art,
Nay, do not start,
One world was not enough for two
Like me and you.

The Odd Life Of Timothy Green

Hey!

I entered on Youtube to see if any of my favourite Youtubers published anything when I saw this trailer for The Odd Life Of Timothy Green. I thought the name was interesting and decided to click and watch this 1:02 long video.

So what do you think?
I think it can be good. Well, either way we have to wait to confirm that because it premieres only in August.

Chronicle (2012)

Hi!

During my absence last month I compensated with watching films. Some of them I already wrote here. And Chronicle is one of those I haven't.

I wanted to see this for a while. And was completely different from what I thought it was, as usual. That happens everytime with me.

The film is more complex than what it makes you think by seeing the trailer but it's also so much better.
I realy liked the fact that the viewer is always watching by some camera nearby, the majority of times it's one of the 3 main characters recording but there are parts where they aren't the ones filming and it's pretty cool.

As I said before I don't like spoilers so I try my best to not be one and that makes writing these kinds of post so much harder... Simply because I don't know what to write without giving away too much.

The film is so good. Even my older brother was captivated and he doesn't like these types of films.
So, if you have an opportunity watch it. I'm sure you'll like it.

Here's the trailer:

Some people were talking about a sequel, but I guess we'll have to wait and see. I would love to se a second film.

CW - Arrow

Hello!

Around this time of the year, some tv shows end, others start and there are those that are presented and will only start in September or October.
And one of those is CW's Arrow. Which is based on Green Arrow, the superhero from DC Comics.

I don't know what you think, but I think this is probably going to be pretty amazing and nerve-racking. I promise you one thing. I'm going to watch this.

Amy Plum - Until I Die

Heya!

As promised, here I am. Talking about the sequel to Die For Me - Until I die - both written by Amy Plum.

"I wish there was only today, just right now, and no forever. It seems fitting that I fell in love in Paris, the most beautiful city in the world. And if I pretend, I can almost believe that my life is normal and everyone I care about is safe. But as I'm with Vincent, normal doesn't exist. Gorgeous, charming, and witty, he's everything you could ask for in a boyfriend but his destiny is so much more. Even more terrifying than his destiny are his dangerous enemies, enemies who will kill for immortality. How are Vincent and I supposed to be together forever if we're always danger? I know I'll do whatever it takes even if it means lying to the people I love to fight against a fate that is trying to tear us apart."

This time I decided to write iBooks' summary just because is more direct. Straight to it.

Amy Plum - Die For Me

Hey!

Right after ending The Temptation I started Die For Me written by Amy Plum.

"When Kate Mercier's parents die in a tragic car accident, she leaves her life - and memories - behind to live with her grandparents in Paris. For Kate, the only way to survive her pain is escaping into the world of books and Parisian art. Until she meets Vincent.

Mysterious, charming, and devastatingly handsome, Vincent threatens to melt the ice around Kate's guarded heart with just his smile. As she begins to fall in love with Vincent, Kate discovers that he's a revenant -  an undead being whose fate forces him to sacrifice himself over and over again to save the lives of others. Vincent and those like him are bound in a centuries-old against a group of evil revenants who exist only to murder and betray.
Kate soon realizes that if she follows her heart, she may never be safe again."

The summary I had read was not that one, definitely, but I still wanted to read this book for quite some time. Why, you ask. Well, because of the title. I just thought it was dramatic and the storyline I instantly created in my mind seemed pretty great.

L.A. Complex

Hi!

Recently I finished the first season of L.A. Complex.

To be completely honest I had never heard of this series before until CW picked it. I know that's a shame because this is Canadian.

Despite having just 8 episodes I really liked the first season. I thought was interesting how they always end each episode with an captivating scene that makes you pulling your hair until you see what happens next.

I know they're making a second season but what I don't know is if CW will air it. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Alisa Valdes - The Temptation

Hello!

I read The Temptation written by Alisa Valdes in about 6 hours.

"His touch was electric.
His eyes were magnetic.
His lips were a temptation...
But was he real?

Shane is near death after crashing her car on a long stretch of empty highway in rural New Mexico when she is miraculously saved by a mysterious young man who walks out of nowhere. She feels an instant energy between them, both a warmth that fills her soul and tingle that makes her shiver. But who, or what, is he? For the first time in her life, she believes in the term "soul mates" - Travis is her destiny, and she is his. But she soon discovers that Travis is dead and strict rules govern kindred spirits of different dimensions. Even a kiss could destroy their souls.
And while Travis is almost impossible to resist, temptation proves to be the kindest enemy they encounter.

In this part romance, part supernatural thriller, true love discovers it may not be able to surpass all - especially the power of pure evil."

When I read this I automatically remembered The Hollow series by Jessica Verday and that was what made me read this book.
Well, now that I read it completely, I say it's similar but totally different.

Long Gone And Moved On

Heya!

I don't know if it is because I'm following The Voice UK or just because they're amazing, but lately I've been listening to The Script non-stop. I think I'm listening more frequently now than when Science & Faith came out in 2010.
My current favourite is Long Gone And Moved On.

Once again, the lyrics are so good. I think if you listen carefuly both albums you'll find a song with the perfect lyrics for any phase you're going through at the moment. Either good or bad.

Battleship (2012)

Hey!

Today June starts and I'm ready to return to my one-post-everyday routine. May was a tough month but I'm hoping June will be nicer.

I saw this film a few weeks ago but since I've been away from the computer and consequently the blog I'm going to talk about Battleship.

One more film with Taylor Kitsch. And I saw Battleship right after John Carter. He's pretty cool.

When I watched the little trailer on TV, I saw it was another film with aliens. I thought it was something similar o Cowboys vs Aliens thus I wasn't interested. But once again my brother forced me to see this and well it was a nice surprise.
It isn't anything like I thought it would be and after all it was good and fun, because there are some funny parts during the most serious ones.

I'm not a huge fan of aliens, even though I love supernatural stuff, you'd thought I was at least a bit interested, but I was actually able to enjoy watching this and at some part I was captivated and deeply into it.

Here's the trailer:
