The Maze Runner - James Dasher

Hi!

Book review today about The Maze Runner written by James Dashner.

"When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his first name. His memory is blank. But he's not alone. When the lift's doors open, Thomas finds himself surrounded by kids who welcome him to the Glade - a large, open expanse surrounded by stone walls.

Just like Thomas, the Gladers don't know why or how they got to the Glade. All they know is that every morning the stone doors to the maze that surrounds them have opened. Every night they've closed tight. And every 30 days a new boy has been delivered in the lift.
Thomas was expected. But the next day, a girl is sent up - the first girl ever arrive in the Glade. And more surprising yet is the message she delivers.
Thomas might be more important than he could ever guess. If only he could unlock the dark secrets buried within his mind."

My story towards this book is kind of funny, because I was finished with Spellcaster for a few days and was crazy looking for one brand-new obsession. I went to iBook Store searching for a new book when accidentally I clicked on The Maze Runner. I read the little summary and thought it could be fun. I downloaded the Sample first, read it all and decided to download the complete version.

At first I was a little disinterested because it was frustrating and confusing. The poor boy alone and no one answered his questions but I forced myself to pay attention and was one of the best decisions I've ever made.
I don't know if it's even normal, but when I'm reading a book I really like and it's captivating me and keeps me sleepless for an entire night I teleport myself into those pages and almost feel the same sadness, happiness or any type of emotions the characters are feeling and probably put too much exaggeration to it but I just can't help it. This book for me was one of the worst on that department. Opposite some reviews I read online saying it lacks on the frustration and all that stuff. I agree on that during that part when you're almost at the end but not really. On that part, I was expecting major events with lots of explanations but it slows downs a bit for returning on full-speed, although the very end is weird, at least for me who hasn't read the second book on the series - The Scorch Trials.

In conclusion, the book is super frustrating and is very well written. I think is a fresh concept on an idea we already are familiar with.
If you're having doubts about reading or not my answer is YES!
You know that rating people do like "1-5"? I say this is a 5/5. It's super captivating and I put my hands on a bonfire as you won't be bored with it.

I found a trailer made by somebody for some competion, I guess. It's not the official, but it's cool, though.

I saw on Wikipedia that they're making a movie out of this. I think I don't mind too much if it's a good one. If they turn it on a Twilight copy-cat I prefer staying with the books only.

Well, expect a new review on the sequel soon because I'm starting it tonight ;)

xx
